The generosity of the donation at the Iowa Annual Conference is another reminder that Justice for Our Neighbors couldn’t minister to refugees and immigrants without the over-whelming support of faithful United Methodists here in Iowa. The collection of $5,766.00 during the Ordering of Ministry Service is humbling, but motivating as well. What a good feeling to know that our volunteers who give their time and energy and prayers are supported by the Iowa Annual Conference members in this mission. What an affirmation of the hard work of our three attorneys: Brynne Howard, Ann Naffier and Joy Moore, as well as our legal secretary, Grisell Herrera. When JFON was started here 15 years ago with a grant from UMCOR, we were told that the only way we would be able to continue was if the annual conference would offer financial and moral support. What an answer to prayer and what an answer to the needs of low income immigrants and refugees by you, our brothers and sisters of the Iowa Annual Conference, who continue to affirm that we are all God’s children.
