Colleen McRoberts is moving on from her position as Leadership Development Minister (LDM) for Social Justice and Mission. She concludes her service with the Iowa Conference at the end of March
“Colleen has shared with me that she is feeling a clear call to take leadership in forming an alternative Christian community,” said Rev. Karen Dungan, Assistant to the Bishop for Connectional Ministries. “Her resignation from the LDM position will allow her the time to discern the direction of this call and to follow through on it.”
McRoberts, who began with the Conference in October 2013, worked to connect congregations and groups that were actively engaged in outreach and justice ministries. As she travelled across the State “she also invited persons doing similar work to connect with one another so that the gifts and strengths exhibited in these ministries might be multiplied,” according to Rev. Dungan. “This asset-based approach, which was intended to be for a period of no longer than two years, has borne fruit and provided us an alternative model for building relationships and developing new ministries across the conference. We will continue to be blessed by the work that Colleen accomplished and by what she learned while doing it.”
McRoberts’ resignation does not affect the work of the Advocacy Team with the Iowa Legislature, which will continue. Next steps regarding the LDM position are pending.
“I know her spirit and insights will be greatly missed within our staff gatherings. Please join me in wishing her well and praying for her as she answers this call that God has given her,” added Rev. Dungan.
