Conference Session attendees voted Monday to
suspend the rules for the purpose of taking up ACTION ITEM # 201 Rules of Order - which had been removed from the Consent Calendar on Saturday.
A motion was made from the floor for a Budget Amendment to add $60,000 to the Budget for Monsoon United Asian Women of Iowa; the Amendment
was not supported.
A motion was made from the floor for an Amendment to ACTION ITEM 201 that would allow for Conference members lacking Internet access to be provided a hard copy of the Pre-Conference Manual, while those members who do have Internet access would still be required to pay the cost.
The motion was defeated 604 to 319.
A motion was made from the floor for an Amendment to ACTION ITEM 201 to provide hard copy summary reports of conference agencies and institutions that go into the Iowa Annual Conference Journal and are not read at Annual Conference Session, these to be provided at no cost at the Conference Treasure’s office during Annual Conference Session.
The motion did not pass, receiving 571 yes votes and 358 no votes, a 61% majority that fell short of the required 2/3 majority.
