Property Matter – Resolution for the Closing of the Gilman United Methodist Church
WHEREAS the Gilman United Methodist Church located in Marshall County was founded in 1898 and has a long and proud history; and
WHEREAS the church conference of the Gilman United Methodist Church voted on June 26, 2020, to close the church; and
WHEREAS the district superintendent, in consultation with the local church, has recommended the closing of the Gilman United Methodist Church and transfer of membership to Laurel United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS the superintendent, in consultation with the local church, has recommended that the property be sold.
WHEREAS the consent to close has been granted by the presiding bishop, a majority of the district superintendents, and the district board of church location and building; and all proper Disciplinary requirements have been complied with;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Gilman United Methodist Church be closed effective July 1, 2020, and the property be transferred to the Trustees of Iowa Annual Conference.
Property Matter – Resolution for the Closing of the Huntington United Methodist Church
WHEREAS the Huntington Church located in Emmet County was founded in 1900 and has a long and proud history; and
WHEREAS the church conference of the Huntington United Methodist Church voted on August 11, 2019, to close the church; and
WHEREAS the district superintendent, in consultation with the local church, has recommended the closing of the Huntington United Methodist Church and transfer of membership to Dolliver United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS the superintendent, in consultation with the local church, has recommended that the property be sold.
WHEREAS the consent to close has been granted by the presiding bishop, a majority of the district superintendents, and the district board of church location and building; and all proper Disciplinary requirements have been complied with;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Huntington United Methodist Church be closed effective September 1, 2019, and the property be transferred to the Trustees of Iowa Annual Conference.
Property Matter – Resolution for the Closing Seeds of Faith United Methodist Church of Lester, Iowa
WHEREAS the Seeds of Faith United Methodist Church of Lester, Iowa (“Seeds of Faith UMC”), located in Lyon County was founded in 1889;
WHEREAS on August 7, 2019, upon learning of the unauthorized attempts by Seeds of Faith UMC to transfer the real and personal property of Seeds of Faith UMC to another entity, the Bishop and majority of District Superintendents, under Discipline Paragraph 2549(3)(b), declared exigent circumstances warranted that title to all Seeds of Faith UMC property should vest in the Conference Board of Trustees;
WHEREAS, pursuant to that certain Settlement Agreement and Release of Claims dated on or about December 20, 2019, the Conference Board of Trustees, for valuable consideration, resolved claims against the former officers and members of Seeds of Faith UMC;
WHEREAS, on or about December 20, 2019, the Conference Board of Trustees authorized the sale of the real and personal property of the former of Seeds of Faith UMC to Seeds of Faith Community Church located in Lester, Iowa;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Seeds of Faith UMC be closed effective August 7, 2019
Property Matter – Resolution for the Closing of the Ticonic United Methodist Church
WHEREAS the Ticonic United Methodist Church located in Monona County was founded in 1898 and has a long and proud history; and
WHEREAS the church conference of the Ticonic United Methodist Church voted on May 13, 2020, to close the church; and
WHEREAS the district superintendent, in consultation with the local church, has recommended the closing of the Ticonic United Methodist Church and transfer of membership to Hornick United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS the superintendent, in consultation with the local church, has recommended that the property be sold.
WHEREAS the consent to close has been granted by the presiding bishop, a majority of the district superintendents, and the district board of church location and building; and all proper Disciplinary requirements have been complied with;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ticonic United Methodist Church be closed effective July 1, 2020, and the property be transferred to the Trustees of Iowa Annual Conference.
Property Matter – Resolution for the Closing of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church
WHEREAS the Mount Zion United Methodist Church located in Wapello County was founded in 1869 and has a long and proud history; and
WHEREAS the church conference of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church voted on September 15, 2019, to close the church; and
WHEREAS the district superintendent, in consultation with the local church, has recommended the closing of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church and transfer of membership to Blakesburg United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS the superintendent, in consultation with the local church, has recommended that the property be sold.
WHEREAS the consent to close has been granted by the presiding bishop, a majority of the district superintendents, and the district board of church location and building; and all proper Disciplinary requirements have been complied with;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mount Zion United Methodist Church be closed effective October 1, 2019, and the property be transferred to the Trustees of Iowa Annual Conference.
