AC2020 Global Health Initiative

AC2020 Global Health Initiative

November 25, 2019

The 2020 Iowa Annual Conference will be focusing on Global Health: Seeking Health and Wholeness for All. We are excited to share about three very deserving groups who are making a difference in the lives of others here in Iowa and around the world.

Iowa Mission of Mercy is a large scale, two-day community dental clinic where dental professionals and general volunteers donate their time to provide free oral health care to individuals who face barriers to receiving dental care. The clinic moves to different areas of the state each year. 2019 The clinic was in Davenport, 2020 it will be in Des Moines.

As United Methodists, we are committed to creating Abundant Health for all – a global connection striving for mental, physical and spiritual well-being. Lifesaving health ministries are enriching the lives of people around the world, from South America to Africa, from India to the Philippines and the U.S.

Africa University reaches out and touches so many lives. Larry and Jane Kies are missionaries at Africa University and Larry is the farm manger there to develop an agricultural program that make the university farm more efficient in it roles of teaching and research. He also teaches in crop production and farm management.

We hope you will and your churches will consider raising money for the global health initiative. This could be through a Christmas or Easter offering, a special collection, a fundraiser or any other creative way. Money can be sent directly to the Iowa Annual Conference and please designate 2020 global health. The offerings will be split between the three organizations.
