AC2021 to be held virtually from June 4-6

The 2021 Iowa Annual Conference session themed, "Connected in Christ: Watching Over One Another in Love," will be held virtually through Zoom Webinar from June 4-6. Plans continue to evolve as Bishop Laurie and the Sessions Committee move forward with planning the event.  
 
Registration
All members will be automatically registered. Pastors who haven't submitted the name(s) of their Lay and Equalization Member(s), please submit those as soon as possible to your District Administrative Assistant so all members can be registered.
 
District Conferences 
Virtual District Conferences are scheduled and will meet through Zoom. Please attend the district that you will be a part of beginning July 1. These are the new districts. See the district map to determine your district. 
  1. Southeast: Sunday, April 18 - 2:30 – 4:00 pm 
  2. Northwest: Sunday, April 18 - 3:00 — 5:00 pm
  3. Central: Sunday, April 24 - 8:30 – 9:45 am
  4. Southwest: Sunday, April 25 - 3:00 – 5:00 pm
  5. Northeast: Sunday, May 2 - 2:00 – 4:00 pm 
Pre-Conference Orientation Sessions
Three virtual pre-conference orientation sessions will help acclimate and guide members through using Zoom Webinar and the Option Technologies voting system. Please save the date for which one is most convenient for your schedule. Preregistration to attend the Pre-Conference Orientation Sessions will be required and will be emailed to voting AC2021 members in early May. The Pre- Conference Manual will also be available in early May.
  1. Wednesday, May 12 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm
  2. Saturday, May 15 from 9 – 11:00 am
  3. Thursday, May 20 from 7 – 9:00 pm
Townhall Meeting
A virtual Townhall meeting will be held on Sunday, May 23, at 2:00 pm through Zoom. Video recorded reports will be available before the Townhall meeting for you to review before the meeting.
 
Annual Conference Session
The Clergy Session will kick off AC2021 beginning at 9:00 am on Friday, June 4. The Laity Session will also be held on June 4, starting at 7:00 pm. 
 
The Saturday, June 5 session will include the Treasurer's report, Iowa United Methodist Foundation report, and general legislation.
 
The Sunday, June 6 session will include a worship service led by Bishop Laurie, Episcopal address, Fixing of Appointments, General Conference 2020 Delegation report, Anti-Racism Task Force report, closed churches, general legislation, nominations final ballot, and reconciling motions.

Pre-Recorded Retirement and Memorial Services
Rev. Julia Poulsen of Jefferson First United Methodist Church will preach the Retirement Service. Rev. Dr. Michel Lundula from the United Methodist Church of Le Mars will preach the Memorial Service. Both services will be pre-recorded and shown at the end of the day's business on June 5 and 6.
 
Ordering of Ministry Service
The Ordering of Ministry Service will be in person following state pandemic guidelines. It will be at the Ankeny First United Methodist Church Christian Life Center on Saturday, July 10.
