Adora S. Jones Ministerial Trust Scholarship application open

Adora S. Jones Ministerial Trust Scholarship application open

September 16, 2019

The Adora S. Jones Ministerial Trust has been established by a lovely lady, who was a school teacher and a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The following is paraphrased from Adora’s will:

“It is my wish that the Trustee shall use the income from the trust to the extent that the same shall become available, for the purpose of grants/scholarships from such income to seminary students from the State of Iowa who are in need of assistance to maintain them in seminary for the purpose of studying for the ministry. While I am a member of the Methodist Church, it would be satisfactory with me if my Trustee would give scholarships to deserving students who would be studying for the ministry in the Methodist, Presbyterian, Baptist, or Congregational Churches. While by specifying these particular denominations, I do not wish to indicate that other denominations are not worthy of consideration, but because of the fact that the Trust funds are limited, I desire to specify those particular denominations. It is my wish that the grants/scholarships be given to deserving students who are desirous of preaching the gospel. It is my wish that such grants/scholarships be granted at the discretion of the Ministerial Trust Administration.”

  • Applicants for a grant/scholarship must have been an Iowa resident prior to college entry.
