The Iowa Annual Conference is celebrating Bishop Lanette Plambeck’s election to the episcopal office of bishop and assignment to the Minnesota/Dakotas Conference by asking you to send your congratulations, memories, and thank you notes to The Iowa Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church at 2301 Rittenhouse Street, Des Moines, IA 50321. They will be collected and given to her before she moves.
As Bishop Plambeck transitions to the Minnesota/Dakotas episcopal area, Rev. William Poland will become the interim Assistant to the Bishop and Director of Connectional Ministries at the Iowa Annual Conference beginning November 14th. Rev. Poland has served as the Director of New Communities of Faith and Connectional Ministries.
Elected as a bishop on the third ballot at the 2022 North Central Jurisdictional Conference on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, Plambeck was the only endorsed candidate of the Iowa Annual Conference and served as the Iowa Annual Conference Assistant to the Bishop and Director of Clergy & Leadership Excellence since 2021. She was the Director of Clergy & Leadership Excellence from 2018 to 2021.

Bishop Plambeck has over 25 years of pastoral ministry and has pastored four churches in four very different contexts in Iowa—including urban, county seat, town, and country—and served as the chaplain at Morningside University.
