Changes at Wesley Woods

May 03, 2017

The Iowa Annual Conference Camping and Retreat Ministry is seeking an experienced professional to lead and manage Wesley Woods United Methodist Camp and Retreat Center in Indianola, IA.

Former Site Director Deke Rider and Equestrian Coordinator Suzanne Rider have recently resigned to pursue other opportunities.

“Deke and Su have impacted thousands of lives during their time at Wesley Woods and we are thankful for their ministry” says Bryan Johnson, LDM for Camping and Christian Formation. “We have been blessed to have them at Wesley Woods and wish them well moving forward.”

A search process for a new Director will be underway shortly with the goal of having a new leader in place by fall. Until a new leader is named, Sam and Tiffany Arnold have been named Interim Summer Directors. “We are looking forward to a great summer,” says Tiffany, “it will be exciting to see the ways in which God continues to work at Wesley Woods.”

Sam and Tiffany Arnold are long time Wesley Woods staff members, volunteers and supporters. Tiffany has previously served as Retreat Coordinator at Wesley Woods while Sam has been a part of the summer staff team and has a wide range of professional experiences including as a paramedic, business owner and in construction. They are thrilled to be at Wesley Woods and to help guide the staff and youth this summer season.

The search for a new director comes at an exciting time for Wesley Woods, which is coming off a successful 60th anniversary celebration and has recently completed construction on the New Life Cabin.

Wesley Woods is one of three Iowa United Methodist Campsites across the state along with Camp Pictured Rocks and the Lake Okoboji United Methodist Camp. Iowa United Methodist Camps help youth and adults feel safe, secure and loved while making new friends and learning about Jesus Christ.
