Christmas Eve candle light service alternative for all

Christmas Eve candle light service alternative for all

November 30, 2020

The West Des Moines UMC's worship committee is inviting you to participate in an at-home candlelight service on Christmas Eve.

In addition to their online worship services planned for the evening of Christmas Eve, at 9:00 pm they are asking people to light a candle and step out their front doors, and wish their neighbors Merry Christmas.

They have prepared the attached invitation (word doc.) that people can give to their neighbors ahead of time. This is a great way for us to share Christ with our neighbors. You are invited to adapt this invitation to your local church and feel free to plan for the candle lighting to begin at a time that is convenient for your church. To make this even more authentic, people are invited to sing “Silent Night” when they step outside. Feel free to record and post it on social media using the hashtag #allisbright.

Can the UMC share light of Christ in all our communities?  Can Christ shine bright across the state this Christmas Eve?
