December 2nd Advent Devotion
Scripture: For if we have been united with [Christ] in a death like his, we will certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. — Romans 6:5
Christmas can be a difficult time for funerals, and for living in grief. All the focus is on the new Baby Jesus, new Life in Christ, new Year - 2020!
For those who are remembering parents, children, spouses, other loved ones, who won’t be at your Christmas celebrations this year, may God grant you peace and comfort.
Some good advice I received once, was to not participate in any of the Christmas activities I didn’t want to. Resist the guilt-trips (a very 1970s term) and disregard the pressure to put up the full battalion of décor, or bake the fiddly cookies, or whatever else you don’t feel like tackling. One fruit of God’s Spirit is PEACE (Galatians 5:22) – Thank you for the gift of your Peace, Lord!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, Please grant the reassurance of eternal life and peace to all those who grieve this season. Amen.
