Easter greetings from UMC missionary, Bruna Farat Kakale

April 20, 2022

Bruna Farat Kakale sends the following update while serving three churches in Cost Rica.

During the Lenten season, we had weekday and weekend activities. Every Wednesday and Thursday, we went to a church to hold a special service where we discussed the importance of following in the footsteps of the Lord, denying oneself, giving, forgiving, and understanding the sacrifice of Jesus for humanity. This time with the churches reminded me why God called us and why we are taking the gospel from one place to another every day. It was beautiful to see each church, each brother and sister, experiencing the themes proposed by the church and placing the purple robes on the altar to remember that the Lamb of God was being prepared to die in our place.

What strikes me the most about this message is that Christ took upon himself not only whips and the heavy cross, but he took all our infirmities and sins. I was also able to go to people's homes to share this message of salvation, to go to people's homes who can no longer go to church or didn’t go because of Covid. These moments are really uplifting to sing and meditate on the scripture.

The Easter Sunday activities with the children also went well, as it was a time when we were able to share with them the love of Jesus Christ in giving his life for us. We have an average of 25 to 30 children in Siquirres, 5 in Pacuarito, and 5 in Cairo, where the work restarted five months ago. I thank each church for their prayers as we continue praying that the seeds that were sown at this time can bear fruit. Peace!
