Financial donations and volunteers needed for Iowa Migrant Movement for Justice immigration clinics

Financial donations and volunteers needed for Iowa Migrant Movement for Justice immigration clinics

April 08, 2022

A large number of Afghan citizens have been evacuated from Afghanistan recently and given “Temporary Protection Status" here in the U.S. Some of them have been sent to Iowa. Iowa Migrant Movement for Justice (IMMJ), previously Justice for Our Neighbors and American Friends Service Committee will be responsible for providing legal help for these new residents.

This temporary protection is great news for people who were evacuated from Afghanistan and have recently arrived in Iowa. It also means that in the coming weeks and months, IMMJ will need to drastically shift their legal program in order to meet this urgent need.

IMMJ is in need of the following:
  1. Donations of money to help fund their work, and
  2. Volunteers to help with hospitality at one of their upcoming immigration legal clinics.
Donate here to help fund the cost of hosting and holding immigration legal clinics and sign up here to volunteer to help with hospitality during a legal clinic. Location, dates, and times of the clinics are still being planned but they need your help now!
