Bishop Laurie Haller has announced that she will be appointing the Rev. Dr. Lilian Gallo Seagren to serve to serve as Superintendent of the Southeast District for the for another year, beginning July 1, 2018. This will be Superintendent Gallo Seagren’s seventh year leading the District.
Since transferring to the Iowa Conference from Northeast Philippines in 1999, Dr. Gallo Seagren has served communities of faith in Hamburg; Guthrie Center-Bowman Chapel; and Waterloo, Kimball Avenue, prior to serving, beginning in 2012, as Superintendent.
Noting that district superintendents generally serve a six-year term, Bishop Laurie noted, “With three new superintendents coming on to the appointive cabinet on July 1, it seemed wise to retain stability with the remaining DS’s. Rev. Gallo Seagren has effectively led the Southeast District into greater discipleship and vitality, and her experience and fruitfulness will continue to be an asset to the cabinet and conference” during Superintendent Gallo Seagren’s seventh year on the district.
“I have been living and serving with faithful and fruitful clergy and laity who are praying, learning and laboring together to be the best pastors, leaders, and congregations in the region for the glory of Christ,” said Rev. Gallo Seagren. “We will continue to focus on our intentional work in growing disciples who are and will transform this world. I will continue to join every disciple here in the Southeast District who is taking, with boldness and intentionality, the mission that Christ has placed in our hearts as United Methodist people. I count it a privilege to be part of the Appointive Cabinet for another year with Bishop Laurie and my superintendent colleagues. May Jesus Christ be praised!”
