Option Technologies Inc. (OTI) has provided electronic voting support for the Iowa Annual Conference since 2007. New at the 2020 Iowa Annual Conference, OTI will be providing Virtual Voting (VVoter) through a web browser on your smart device. Most iOS, Android or Windows phones or tablets purchased since 2016 should be compatible. Here is a list
of VVoter web browsers that are compatible and how to find the version
you are using. Voting pads will also be available for those who do not have or want to vote using their smart phone or tablet. Voters have to be present at the 2020 Iowa Annual Conference to use this option.
"Web browser voting is more efficient since the Conference is able to avoid rental and shipping costs for handsets and the support personnel who prep and test the devices on-site. Voters use their own devices. This approach reduces the cost of electronic voting by more than 60%,” said Mark A. Fite from Options Technologies.
Voters connect to the voting site using the browser on their phone or tablet. Instructions and voting links will be available on the Conference website soon. Each voter will receive a paper card with their unique Voter ID they will use to securely log into the system.
The OTI VVoter app has been validated by hundreds of clients over the past eight years. It is simple and uses the same voting control software the Conference has been using with OTI handsets. It's simply a different input method for submitting votes.
OTI will provide a simple three-minute tutorial that will be posted on the Conference web site recapping the entire voting process.
VVoter can display slides and graphical material to the phones and tablets connected to VVoter as the meeting unfolds.
Onsite assistance will be available if help is needed.
