Bishop Laurie Haller announced that Rev. Colorado’s new appointment will begin on July 1, 2019. “I am delighted that Rev. Moody Colorado will be joining the appointive cabinet as the superintendent of the South Central District,” she said. She noted that Rev. Colorado, his wife, Elizabeth, and son John moved from the Philippines to Iowa is presently serving at Wellman, Asbury and West Chester United Methodist Churches.
“As a kid I struggled with stage fright and I thought it would take a miracle if God would make a preacher out of me like my father,” Rev Colorado said, in response to his new assignment. “When Bishop Laurie asked me to serve as District Superintendent I felt that God’s miracle work on my life is still going on,” he added.
Rev. Colorado transferred to the Iowa Annual Conference from the United Methodist Church Philippines, East, in 2004. He has served the Trinity-Gillett Grove, Community-Dickens charge and at Heritage UMC in Waverly prior to his current appointment.
“Rev. Colorado’s strengths include pastoral care and visitation, community outreach, evangelism, music, and creating opportunities/experiments for laity to be in ministry,” Bishop Laurie noted. I am grateful for the fruitfulness of Moody’s ministry over many years and look forward to his presence on the cabinet.”
