Silver Creek UMC is "Chalk-Full" of positive vides during COVID-19

Silver Creek UMC is

August 09, 2020

In May 2020, responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, Silver Creek UMC near Galva, Iowa sought to bring a little joy into the lives of their community by encouraging youth to decorate their sidewalks by passing out the sidewalk chalk.

They were able to collect around $70 dollars and a couple of 24 packs of chalk. They delivered the chalk to homes in the community, left baggies on the front step, or for those in the country in their mailboxes.

“We also handed them out to kids that were out walking around,” said Pastor Kristin Boysen. “They couldn't believe that we were just giving them out and didn't want anything in return.”

This little church handed out around 140 baggies, and only four of them were to members!

The only return they wanted to see was a little bit of sidewalk art—making those dark days a little brighter in Galva.
