God bless you.
I am Pastor Rubén Mendoza of the Vida Nueva [New Life United Methodist] Church in the north central part of Iowa. I’ve been working here for two and a half years by the grace of God. And we’ve had many blessings during this time.
I want to tell you first about the most recent blessing which is changing our worship site from Corwith to Kanawha. This has been a great blessing because all the people that form a part of the church are closer to the worship site, especially because in Kanawha we have a greater number of members who attend. So this really was a huge blessing.
Another of the things that we are developing is getting involved in the work of the community and look for ways to continue winning souls for Christ. This is a very hard-working church with very strong and dedicated leaders, and the membership is committed to the work of Christ unconditionally.
Therefore, I am very happy to work here. And, the services we have are on Sundays at our Sunday Worship Service, on Wednesdays which is a Wednesday Study for the leaders and all of the church. And, on Friday we have a Prayer Service. All of these activities are a base, although they are not the only ones. We have a Men’s Group, a Women’s Group, Youth Activities, Children’s Activities. But the first three are the basis for the entire congregation.
We are also looking for way to get more involved with the community and to really be a part of this community to which we have moved and which we are serving now. We know that God has been working greatly in all of these processes.
One of the things that I am truly grateful for is the work of the Iowa Annual Conference. The support that they have provided has been a real blessing and I know that they are searching out every means and resource to continue to support these ministries of growth and ministries that reach out to the migrant and to people in need. And, we as a church, can provide for these people. The work of this Conference is one of the best that I have seen even on a national level as regards the support of Hispanic Ministries. So, I am profoundly grateful for this work that they are carrying out.
And the goals that we have for the future are to continue growing. Thanks be to God we have a much bigger building now with rooms, offices, and much more ample gathering spaces. Outside the building we have a park for the children so they can play games and have fun. So, in reality, we have the resources now to continue growing as a church, to continue evangelizing, finding the lost souls that need us. And, not only will get closer to the people, but since we also have so much more room now we can serve the community so much more effectively and continue growing as a ministry.
So, it has been a true blessing all of this time serving here. We have truly seen many miracles – and among those is the new building in Kanawha. So, thank you – thank you very much – for all of the support that we have receive from the Annual Conference, from our Bishop, and from the entire Cabinet. Because truly it has been a great blessing for the Vida Nueva Church. God bless you. May God keep you always. And, again, many thanks for all that you are doing for Hispanic Ministries.
