Giving Tuesday is almost here, but where should you give your time or resources if you want to support United Methodist Ministries? The Iowa Conference has three ideas.
1. Give Local
Talk with your pastor or your missions committee to see where your local United Methodist Church needs donations the most. You might find that they need volunteers for a meal coming up, or that they need to purchase coats for the homeless or school children in your neighborhood. This could be a one-time gift or turn into something you and your family enjoy helping with every year.
2. Give to Conference Advance Specials
A Conference Advance Special is a project located within the Iowa Annual Conference and is directly related to the Conference Board of Global Ministries. Projects to be considered must reflect the mission and ministry of the Iowa Annual Conference. Conference Board of Global Ministries priorities are working with children and youth, and influencing them through assistance to men, women and families; encouraging hands-on mission; and reaching the “least of these” in the Iowa Conference.

3. Give globally
Through
United Methodist Global Ministries and the
United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), we have many opportunities to support projects that advance vital ministries around the world, such as
relief aid for disaster victims,
scholarships for Native American seminarians, scholarships and loans for
students attending United Methodist schools, and so much more!
Look
through these links to find projects and missionaries that most interest you. And remember, 100% of your gift reaches the project / missionary of your choice.
If you don't have a specific interest, you can instead designate your gift to the
Overall work of Global Ministries or the
Overall work of UMCOR.
