Rev. Alferd E. Wilken passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the United Methodist Church, 119 E 2nd Street, Fairmont, MN at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 8. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. A Celebration of Life Service will also be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 11 at Grace United Methodist Church, 3700 Cottage Grove Avenue, Des Moines, IA. (All clergy attending are invited to robe and wear a white stole.) Time with the family following the service.
Rev. Wilken served at Merrill-Stanton; Meservey; Ames; as Superintendent of the Sioux City District; Cedar Falls, Trinity and Conference Council on Ministries Director. He retired in 1982.
Survivors include his children, Kathryn Bunger of Davis, SD, Keith of Fairmont, MN and John of West Des Moines, IA.
Memorials may be sent to the Iowa Conference Board of Global Ministries.
