Terms of Service Agreement

Welcome to, the official online ministry of The Iowa Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.  This site is designed to provide information to anyone interested or involved in supporting the mission and ministry of the United Methodist Church.  When using, you agree to the terms and conditions listed on this page (the “Terms of Service Agreement’), which may be updated by the Conference from time to time.

The web site may provide, or third parties may provide, links to other World Wide Web sites or resources.  Because has no control over such sites and resources, you acknowledge and agree that the Iowa Annual Conference is not responsible for the availability of such external sites or resources, and does not endorse and is not responsible or liable for any content, advertising, products or other materials on or available from such sites or resources.  You further acknowledge and agree that the Iowa Annual Conference shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance on any such content, goods, or service available on or through any such site or resources.

You may not (1) modify, (2) publish, display, disclose, rent, lease, modify, loan, distribute, create derivative works based on this web site or its documentation of any part thereof without the express written permission of the Iowa Annual Conference, (3) remove, obliterate, or cancel from view any copyright, trademark, confidentiality or other proprietary notice, mark or legend appearing on, (4) reverse engineer, decompile, translate, adapt or dissemble, nor shall you attempt to create the source code from the object code for without the express written permission of the Iowa Annual Conference, or (5) assign the license for the Service.

The Iowa Annual Conference grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to create an account for and use in accordance with this Terms of Service Agreement.  The Iowa Annual Conference shall remain the sole and exclusive proprietor of any associated documentation of the site.

To enable the Iowa Annual Conference to protect our customers and respond to customer needs and complaints you consent to the Iowa Annual Conference employees being able to access your account and records on a case-by-case basis to investigate complaints or other allegations or abuse.  The Iowa Annual Conference shall not disclose the existence or occurrence of such an investigation unless required by law.

All interactive communications (e-mail, chat, discussion boards, etc), even though intended for a private audience are subject to public access.

Information and opinions expressed in bulletin board or other interactive communications are not necessarily these of the Iowa Annual Conference.  Users alone are responsible for the contents of the messages they communicate when using our services as well as the consequences of any such messages.

As a user you understand and agree that the Iowa Annual Conference services are provided AS-IS.  The Iowa Annual Conference assumes no responsibility for the timeliness, deletion, miss-delivery or failure to store any user communications or personalization settings.

  4. Upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any content that you do not have a right to make available under any law or under contractual or fiduciary relationships (such as inside information, proprietary and confidential information learned or disclosed as part of employment relationships or under nondisclosure agreements.)
  5. Upload, post, email, transit or otherwise make available any content that infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copywrite or other proprietary right (“Rights”) of any party
  6. Upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, junk mail, spam, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or any other form of solicitation.
  7. Intentionally upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any material that contains software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware on telecommunications equipment
  8. Disrupt the normal flow of dialogue, cause a screen to scroll faster than other users of the web site are able to type, or otherwise act in a manner that negatively affects other user’s ability to engage in real time exchanges.
  9. Interfere with or disrupt or servers or networks connected to, or disobey any requirements procedures, policies or regulations of networks connected to this web site.
  10. Intentionally or unintentionally violate any applicable local, state, national or international, including but not limited to, regulations promulgated by the  U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, any rules of any national or other securities exchange, included, without limitation, the New York Stock exchange, the American stock exchange or the NASDAQ, and any regulations having the force of law.
  11. Stalk or otherwise harass another.
  12. Collect or store personal data about other users.
  13. Infringe upon copyright laws and regulations

The Iowa Annual Conference may in appropriate circumstance and at its discretion, disable and/or terminate the accounts of users who may be infringing the intellectual property of others.

The Iowa Annual Conference may modify or discontinue service or your account, with or without notice, without liability to you, any other user or any third party.  The Iowa Annual Conference reserves the right to terminate your account if learned they you have provided false or misleading registration information, interfered with other users or the administration of the Iowa Annual Conference services, or violated these Terms of Service.

Privacy Policy

The purpose of this privacy policy is to inform you of what types of information the Iowa Annual Conference may gather about you when you visit our Website, how we may use that information, whether we disclose it to anyone, and the choices you have regarding such use.  Finally note that this policy applies only to  This privacy policy does not apply to any other website to which this Website may be linked and or affiliated. 

By accessing and using the Website, you consent to the collection and use of certain information by the Iowa Annual Conference on aggregate and/or individual bases.  The Iowa Annual Conference does not share such information with third parties; however, the Iowa Annual Conference may use this information to contact you or provide other services to you.

The information collected may include (1) non personally identifiable information (that is information that can be traced to a single, personally identifiable individual) to evaluate how well our web pages are reaching and serving the needs of visitors. (2)  Home server domain name(s) and type of web browser of visitors to the Website (3) email addresses of visitors that communicate with via email or other electronic means. (4) information knowingly provided by users in online forms or otherwise, registration forms (i.e. examples may include but not limited to online registrations for events, online donations, credit card payments for fees, newsletter subscribers)

All credit card transactions are securely passed to and processed by Nova Information Systems directly; The Iowa Annual Conference does not collect or keep credit care information on our servers.  Personal information provided at the time of credit card use is only for the purpose of crediting the proper account and giving you credit correctly for your gift or payment.  The Iowa Annual conference will not keep or store credit card numbers.


Shipping Policy: 

Merchandise such as printed materials (books, manuals, etc.) will be shipped within two weeks of date of publication.

Other materials such as DVD's or other video/audio productions will  be shipped within two weeks of their production date.

Credit Card Refund Policy: 

If a credit card is used to purchase a product, service or pay a fee to the Iowa Annual Conference and for some reason a refund is approved.  The refund will only occur by debiting your credit card account.

Refunds for events will only be granted for cases of illness or hardship.  Refunds for merchandise will only be granted upon the return of said merchandise.

Other companies that place links on the Website may collect information about you when you click on their links or visit there website(s).  You should contact these companies directly if you have any questions about their use or information and privacy policies. The website assumes no liability for acts of third parties that are linked to this website.  Reasonable efforts are made to safeguard the confidentiality of information transmissions made by means of the internet; however, the internet cannot be made absolutely secure.  The Iowa Annual Conference assumes no liability for disclosure or access to information due to errors in transmission, unauthorized access, or other acts of third parties.

Any information collected by is the property of, subject to and protected by the federal and state law.  Any information stored or otherwise transmitted to the website will be treated as confidential and proprietary information and will not be disclosed to any third party without your express written consent.  However, under certain circumstances we may be required to or we may choose to provide information about you to third parties with or without your consent, as permitted by law, including, to respond to a subpoena or court order, judicial process or regularity authorities, and to protect against fraud.  In addition, we may provide information about you to our service providers to help us process your registrations or provide other services.

Use of Your Information

The Iowa Annual Conference may collect two types of information about visitors to the web site.  The personal information may be but not limited to name, address, telephone number, email address, which you have voluntarily submitted to us and aggregate information such as how many visitors log on to our sights, the pages they access, etc.

You can visit our Web site without telling who you are or revealing personal information about yourself, in which case you may be unable to participate in promotions or registrations.  We collect, maintain and use personal information you have voluntarily submitted to contact you, including via emails, to response to your comments or requests for information.

The Iowa Annual Conference will not trade or share your personal information for use by any business, without your consent, unless required by law or as disclosed to you when the information is collected.

We may use your information in a number of ways, including but not limited to: improving the content of our web site.  For example, we may use cookies to find out which parts of our site is visited most often, marketing and promotional purposes. For example we send our emails to our members about services or events that may be of interest to them.

You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless The Iowa Annual Conference, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, consultants and agents from any and all third party claims, liability, damages and/or costs (including but not limited to, attorney fees) arising from your use of our services, your violations of the Terms of Service Agreement or your infringement, or infringement by any other user of your account, or any intellectual property or other right any person entity.  The Terms of Service will inure to the benefits of the Iowa Annual Conference successors, assigns and licensees.

The Terms of Service Agreement will be governed by and constructed in accordance with laws of the State of Iowa.  Any actions brought to enforce this agreement or matters related to the site shall be brought in either the state or federal courts of Iowa.  If for any reason a court of competent jurisdiction finds any provision or portion of the Terms of Service Agreement to be unenforceable, the remainder to the Terms of Service Agreement will continue in full force and effect.

The Terms of Service constitute the entire agreement between the parties with respect to the subject matter hereof and supersedes and replace all prior or contemporaneous understanding or agreements, written or oral, regarding such matters.  Due to rapidly evolving technologies on the Internet, the Iowa Annual Conference may occasionally update and change this policy.  All revision will be posted to this site.  A revised Privacy Policy will apply only to data collected subsequent to its effective date.  Any waiver of any provision of the Terms of Service will be effective only if in writing and signed by the Iowa Annual Conference registered agent.
