Strength for Service
Altoona UMMen have distributed several dozen Strength for Service to God and Community to "First Responders" in the Southeast Polk area. The pocket-sized daily devotional contains "Messages for Those in the Service of Others" in our communities who often put their lives on the line for others.
Evan Hunsberger, for an Eagle Scout project, led an effort to republish Strength for Service to God and Country, originally published in 1942 for our military personnel. Over 500,000 copies of the republished 1942 devotional book have been given to members of the Armed Services since 2002.
An emphasis is now being made to provide Local First Responders with Strength for Service To God and Community.
Lacey UMMen have recently provided copies of Strength for Service to God and Community to the New Sharon Volunteer Fire Department.
